The Trusted Advisor Collective · By Invitation · One Seat Per Profession

You've built a practice worth trusting. Your referral bench should be built the same way.

Most networking is wide and shallow — a room full of business cards and very little follow-through. The Collective is the opposite: six professionals, one seat per profession, meeting weekly to become the advisors their clients brag about.

Weekly · 60 minutesSix seats, six professionsGrand Rapids, Michigan

Your clients ask you for names — a good CPA, a planner they can trust, an attorney who calls back. And every time, you face the same quiet risk: when you hand a client to another professional, your reputation goes with them. A stack of business cards can't carry that weight. Only people you've watched work, week after week, can.

What It Is

A working partnership, not a networking event

A handful of professionals whose work naturally overlaps, meeting every week with a clear agenda, real accountability, and one shared standard — the client comes first.

✦ What the Collective is

  • A curated group — every member is vetted and every seat is earned
  • A weekly working session with structure, outcomes, and follow-up
  • A referral relationship built on trust you can stake your name on
  • A place to sharpen your expertise alongside people who take their craft seriously

What it is not

  • Not BNI or a franchise networking chapter
  • Not a public mixer or casual coffee club
  • Not a lead-swapping quota system
  • Not open enrollment — membership is by conversation and fit
Who It Is For

Six complementary professions, one shared client

Each member serves the same households at different moments of their financial lives. When those professionals actually know and trust each other, the client wins — and so does every practice at the table.

Mortgage Broker / Lender

Guides financing decisions from first purchase through long-term homeownership strategy.

Realtor

Represents buyers and sellers through the largest transactions of their lives.

CPA / Accountant

Keeps the tax picture clear for households, business owners, and investors.

Financial Planner

Connects today's decisions to long-term goals — retirement, education, wealth building.

Insurance Agent

Protects the home, the income, and the family behind every plan at the table.

Estate Planning Attorney

Ensures what a family builds is protected and passed on the way they intend.

These six professions form the founding table. As chapters mature, adjacent seats — title, home inspection, property management — may be added deliberately, never casually.

One Seat Per Profession

Your seat is yours alone

Every profession holds exactly one seat. There is no second Realtor waiting to compete for the same referral, and no ambiguity about who the group calls when a client needs your expertise. Exclusivity isn't a perk here — it's what makes deep trust possible.

How a Seat Happens

Three steps. No application fee.

1
Request a conversation

Tell us about your practice and who you serve. Membership begins with a conversation, not an application fee.

2
Meet the table

If there's fit and an open seat, you'll sit in — existing members have a voice in who joins their table.

3
Take your seat — or found one

Join the chapter, or anchor a new table in your own market. Strong professionals in a filled seat are often the ideal founders of the next one.

Weekly Meeting Structure

Sixty minutes, every week, no wasted time

The agenda is fixed so the value is predictable. Members arrive prepared, the hour moves with purpose, and everyone leaves with something concrete.

0:00Open & WinsEach member shares one win or client outcome from the week — five minutes, momentum first.
0:05Member SpotlightOne member teaches the table something from their world — a rule change, a strategy, a case study. Rotates weekly so everyone becomes more valuable to their own clients.
0:20Opportunity ExchangeReal client situations, real introductions, and open collaboration on how to serve them well. This is where relationships turn into results.
0:45CommitmentsEach member states their action item for the coming week — and reports back on last week's. Accountability is the difference between a group and a collective.
0:55CloseConfirm next spotlight, log commitments, adjourn on time. Respecting the hour is part of the culture.
✦ Every meeting produces, for every member: one new idea you can use in your practice, one meaningful connection or introduction, and one action item with accountability behind it.
What Members Receive

The return on a seat at the table

A vetted referral bench

Five professionals you know personally and can recommend without hesitation — because you've watched how they work, week after week.

Warm, qualified introductions

Referrals that arrive with trust already attached — not a name on a list, but a personal handoff from someone the client already relies on.

Cross-industry expertise

A working knowledge of tax, legal, insurance, planning, and real estate that makes you a better advisor in your own lane.

A peer board of directors

Five sharp, growth-minded peers invested in your success — a sounding board most solo professionals never have.

Collaboration opportunities

Co-hosted client events, shared educational content, and joint problem-solving on complex client situations.

Built-in accountability

A weekly commitment structure that keeps your best intentions from staying intentions. Growth-minded people do more when someone is watching.

What Members Commit To

The standard that protects the table

A seat in the Collective carries expectations. They exist for one reason: when you hand a client to another member, your reputation goes with them.

Show up, every weekAttend the 60-minute meeting consistently and arrive prepared. The structure only works when the seats are full.
Respond like it's your own clientReferred clients hear back the same business day. Responsiveness is the first promise every member makes.
Put the client's interest firstAdvice is honest even when it costs a transaction. Members recommend what's right, including "not yet" and "not me."
Contribute expertise generouslyTake your turn in the spotlight, answer the table's questions, and share what you know without keeping score.
Close the loopEvery introduction gets an outcome report back to the referring member. Silence erodes trust faster than bad news.
Keep growingMembers invest in their craft, their systems, and their service — and hold each other to the same standard.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from BNI or other networking groups?
Franchise networking groups are built around volume — large rosters, referral quotas, and dues structures. The Collective is built around depth: six seats, one per profession, no quotas, and a weekly working agenda focused on becoming genuinely better advisors together. Referrals happen because trust is real, not because a scorecard requires them.
Is there a membership fee?
There are no franchise dues. The real cost of membership is the commitment: one hour a week, full preparation, and follow-through on your action items. Chapters may choose to split incidental costs like a meeting room or coffee, but nobody profits from your seat.
What if my profession's seat is already filled?
One seat per profession is a firm rule — it's what makes the trust work. If your seat is taken in the local chapter, you have two options: join the waitlist for that chapter, or start a new chapter in your market. Strong professionals in a filled seat are often the ideal founders of the next table.
How are members selected?
By conversation and fit, not by application volume. We look for professionals who are ethical, responsive, collaborative, reliable, and genuinely growth-minded — people whose work you'd stake your own name on. Existing members have a voice in who joins their table.
What does the weekly time commitment look like?
Sixty minutes, once a week, plus whatever time your action item requires. The meeting starts and ends on time — consistently. If a season of life makes weekly attendance impossible, the honest move is to open the seat rather than hold it half-heartedly.
Can I start a chapter in my own city?
Yes — that's exactly how the Collective grows. Chapter founders receive the meeting framework, the member standards, and guidance on filling the first six seats well. Select "Starting a chapter" in the form above and tell us about your market.
Are referrals guaranteed?
No — and be wary of any group that guarantees them. Referrals in the Collective are earned through demonstrated competence and character, which is why they carry weight when they happen. What is guaranteed is the structure: a weekly hour designed to produce one idea, one connection, and one action item for every member, every meeting.
